My Work
I currently work part-time in a local café called "The Village at Wheelocks". While I enjoy working there, I wish to pursue a career in media in the future. As I like working there, I am very critical of how things are managed at the café because I want them to succeed. So here is a before and after of the current logo and menus in place at "The Village at Wheelocks", versus the logo's and menu designs that I would implement if I were to manage the social media accounts :)

My Thought Process
The Village at Wheelocks is a family owned café, located in Enniscorthy, Co.Wexford. It is so much more than a café, however, as it is built on a strawberry farm, an integral aspect of Wexford's identity and heritage, also known as "The Strawberry County". Amongst the café we have a playground, a farm filled with animals for guests to see, and they also run an activity called "Pick Your Own", in which you receive a tour of the strawberry tunnels and get to pick your very own bucket of strawberries!
As you can imagine, it is an extremely family orientated restaurant, based on their amenities. After only being opened for five years, Wheelock's has grown and developed so much, however, I believe their current logo and menu's do not reflect that growth, or their aesthetic. The logo is basic, but forgettable, it does not stand out. I have created a wide range of potential logo's using Canva, Adobe and Photoshop, that I find more appealing, and better represent their brand.
For me, the menu's lack cohesiveness and personality. People are drawn to visit a place based on the images they are provided with, and that includes the menu. Wheelocks has a fun and lively atmosphere and that is not reflected in their menu's. The menu's are hard to read in places and have quite a few error's throughout, and it is the fine details that make all the difference. With my menu's, I have managed to balance a sense of professionalism, while also including endearing graphics.
